Privacy

Friends of Bill is an anonymity-first peer community. We collect as little as we can and never sell or share your information.

What we store

  • Your email address and a securely hashed password, used only to sign you in.
  • If you continue with Google: your Google account id, email address and first name and last initial. Nothing else from your Google account.
  • What you choose to add to your profile (display name, photo, city, fellowship, sobriety date, bio) and what you post, comment, like or send in messages.
  • A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who can see it

Your email address is never shown to other members. Profiles, the feed and group posts are visible only to signed-in members (group posts only to that group's members). Messages are visible only to you and the person you're talking with. The meetings directory is public.

Email

We send account emails only — confirming your address and resetting your password. The site administrator is notified when a new member joins.

Where it lives

The site and its database run on Cloudflare. Data is kept for as long as your account exists.

Your choices

You can edit or clear your profile at any time in settings and delete your own posts. To have your account and everything in it removed, email privacy@friendsofbill.com from the address you signed up with.
